The First "Shanghai Cooperation Organization Rule of Law Forum" was successfully held in SHUPL

On April 28th, the first Shanghai Cooperation Organization Rule of Law Forum was hosted by the China National Institute for SCO International Exchange and Judicial Cooperation. The Judicial Research Base of the Supreme People's Court and the International Law School of SHUPL co-hosted the Rule of Law Forum.

 Liu Xiaohong, President of SHUPL; Wang Zhihua, Vice President and Secretary General of the Chinese Law Society (Comparative Law Research Association) and more than 60 experts and scholars from national research institutes and practical departments attended the forum. The opening ceremony was hosted by Jia Shaoxue from CNISCO.

Liu Xiaohong made an opening speech. She pointed out that the Shanghai University of Political Science and Law is committed to serving the national strategy. CNISCO is an important platform. It has formed distinctive research fields covering the SCO research, the translation of Russian legal documents and national laws along the“Belt and Road,” and legal protection of overseas rights and interests. With its own research characteristics, CNISCO will focus on making it a domestic first-class, internationally renowned academic and think tank brand. She emphasized that the Shanghai Institute of Political Science and Law is willing to actively carry out cooperation and exchanges at home and abroad, carry out research on legal issues of SCO member states, observer countries, and dialogue partners, and provide better intellectual support and legal services for Chinese enterprises to go global.

In his speech, Wang Zhihua expressed his gratitude to the organizers for their invitation. He warmly congratulated the grand convening of this forum and said that the Comparative Law Research Society of the China Law Society will play its own role and actively support the Shanghai University of Political Science and Law on the research of legal issues of Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

During the meeting, delegates discussed the legal issues concerning political mutual trust, security cooperation, economic and trade cooperation, and financial project cooperation related to the development of the SCO itself as well as relevant issues concerning the legal protection of anti-terrorism cooperation, overseas investment legal protection, international judicial assistance, legal service construction, and international dispute settlement mechanisms in the SCO region. Fruitful achievements have been achieved.

The closing ceremony of the conference was delivered by Shi Qibao, Director of the Development Planning Department of SHUPL and Director of the Discipline Construction Office. He briefed delegates on the functional orientation of CNISCO and the current legal research activities.
