Notice for the Application of the CNISCO Visiting Scholar Program

Secondary colleges, departments, and offices:

To enhance the management and standardized the approval of the visiting scholar program, to improve the international level of study of our University, China National Institute for SCO International Exchange and Cooperation( hereinafter CNISCO) plans to provide funding to invite world-famous scholars to visit our University. Now as a result of this development this regulation.

 

Part One: Application Conditions and Procedures of Visiting Scholars from Outside the University

1.    This program aims at famous scholars and professors who are employed by foreign higher education institutes or related organizations.

2.    The application form should be submitted by the inviting secondary college, departments, and offices. After being assessed by CNISCO’s panel of experts, the applications will be submitted to the international exchange department of our university and shanghai municipal education commission. After being approved, an official invitation letter will be sent by the international exchange department of our university with the assistant of the inviting secondary college, department, or office.

 

Part Two: Funding and its Usage

Category: 27-30 day length visiting, other short-term visiting, 30 days plus visiting.

27-30 day length visiting: 30,000 RMB founding each for a famous scholar or specialist from abroad conducts a 30 day visit in CNISCO,

other short-term visiting(7-27 days): scholars and specialist included in this program should conduct visiting at CNISCO no less than 7 days, the work subsidies every day being conducted is 650 RMB. The calculation for the actual funding is 650RMB * actual days of visit being conducted+10000RMB(International Travel Expense).

If scholars and specialists have to conduct visit more than 30 days due to work requirements,besides from international travel expense,they will receive 650RMB a day.

When the scholars arrive at CNISCO, he/she should receive 70% of their funding. The rest 30% will be given after he/she finishes his/her program. International and domestic travel expenses, lecture fees, consulting fees, labor fees are included in the funding. During the visit CNISCO will provide accommodation. The scholar or specialist should cover his/her own cost of living.

 

Part Three: Tasks and Responsibilities

1.    For those who will be staying for 7-14day: The obligation includes: 1, Course teaching no less than 4 class hours. The content of the course can be decided by the inviting secondary college, department, or office. 2. one academic lecture. 3. one research report, no less than 3000 words. (Chinese, English or Russian)

For those who will be staying for 15-26day: The obligation includes: 1, Course teaching no less than 6 class hours. The content of the course can be decided by the inviting secondary college, department, or office. 2. Two academic lecture. 3. One research report, no less than 4000 words. (Chinese, English or Russian)

For those who will be staying for 27-30day: The obligation includes: 1, Course teaching no less than 8 class hours. The content of the course can be decided by the inviting secondary college, department, or office. 2. Two academic lecture. 3. one research report, no less than 5000 words. After the visit is finished the inviting party should provide the materials mentioned above to the Research and Consulting Department of CNISCO.

2.    If the visiting scholar undertakes lectures or consulting aside from his or her responsibility at the University. CNISCO will provide corresponding subsidies separately.

 

Part Four: Supplementary Provisions and Others

1.    If the scholars or specialist recommended is from CNISCO foreign research center or from universities or institutes which had already signed Strategic cooperation agreements with SHUPL, he or she will have the priority to be approved.

2.    Scholars and specialists have to abide by the constitution of the People's Republic of China, laws and other regulations on discipline in foreign affairs during his or her visit. The inviting secondary college, department, or office should be responsible for the visit and supervise the completion of the visit.

 

Part Five: This regulation shall be interpreted and implemented by the Research and Consulting Department of CNISCO.
