In the afternoon of Jan. 14, CNISCO Wendao Forum received Xiang Lanxin, tenured professor from the Graduate Institute Geneva, for a lecture on the topic of Trilateral Relationship of China-U.S.-Europe Under New International Situation. Professor Xiang summarized the political system of U.S. and Trump's governing philosophy by analyzing the status quo of the trilateral relationship of China-U.S.-Europe under new international situation. He also analyzed the reasons of the teared-apart society. According to Xiang, Trump's governing philosophy is essentially rooted in Jacksonian democracy, which destroyed meritocracy. Therefore, Trump was able to expand his base to middle and lower classes. Xiang pointed out that besides legislative, executive and judicial power, U.S. also has the fourth power - the power of media. He analyzed Trump's actions on the four powers after he took office for further interpreting methods of Trump's governance. Through the analysis of the current situation in Europe and the in-depth interpretation of the Trilateral Relationship, he believed that in the future, the three would form a situation of tripartite confrontation. In the Q&A session, Professor Xiang answered the questions from the audience. The lecture ended satisfactorily in applause.
