CNISCO Held the Opening Ceremony of SCO International Young Legal Talents Training Camp


To promote judicial exchanges and cooperation along with exchanges of talents and legal experience between the SCO countries in the post-epidemic era, China National Institute for SCO International Exchange and Judicial Cooperation (hereinafter, CNISCO) at Shanghai University of Political Science and Law (hereinafter, SHUPL) hosted the SCO International Young Legal Talents Training Camp online from September 23 to 27.

On the afternoon of September 23rd, the opening ceremony of the training camp was held at CNISCO. AZYMBAKIEV Muratbek Abakirovich, SCO Deputy Secretary-General, Yu Xiaoyu, Deputy Director of International Cooperation Bureau of the Supreme People's Court, Liu Xiaohong, President of SHUPL and Director of CNISCO Office, Chen Xiao, Dean of the School of Continuing Education at SHUPL and Director of the Training Department at CNISCO, Wang Yufeng, Director of the Center for Emergency Management and Forensic Research at CNISCO and all trainees attended the opening ceremony online and offline respectively, Sun Liuhua presided over the ceremony.

Liu Xiaohong expressed her gratitude to the SCO Secretariat and the Supreme People's Court for their guidance and concern for the training camp. She said that this year coincides with the 20th anniversary of the SCO, by holding this training camp, the spirit of President Xi's speech at the SCO Qingdao Summit and SCO Dushanbe Summit was further implemented, providing a platform for judicial exchanges and cooperation among young legal talents from the SCO countries. It is hoped that the trainees will become pioneers in the field of justice and law enforcement in their countries, promoters of exchanges on the rule of law and mutual learning among civilizations, and successors of the Shanghai Spirit.

AZYMBAKIEV Muratbek Abakirovich pointed out that at the SCO Dushanbe Summit held in Tajikistan on September 17, the leaders of all member states proposed that the SCO countries should further strengthen judicial law enforcement cooperation, expand the channels for legal cooperation, and give full play to the important role of legal talents in legal exchanges among SCO countries. He said that CNISCO is an important platform for cultivating talents in judicial and legal fields and promoting the cooperation and development of the SCO countries. He encouraged all the trainees participating in this training camp to actively participate in the judicial exchanges and cooperation of the SCO countries, contribute to the reconstruction of the world in the post-epidemic era, and maintain world peace and stability.

Yu Xiaoyu pointed out that the 20 years since the establishment of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization has not only brought tremendous benefits to the people of the countries in the region but also effectively promoted world peace and stability. She introduced in detail the positive contributions and unremitting efforts of the Supreme People's Court to promote in-depth exchanges and cooperation among SCO countries and emphasized that exchanges and cooperation in the judicial field are always an important part of pragmatic cooperation among SCO member states. Young legal talents are an important bridge for mutual learning in multiple jurisdictions and an important link for exchanges on the rule of law and mutual learning among different civilizations. It is hoped that the training camp can enhance the understanding of China among young friends from the SCO countries and contribute their wisdom to the integrated development of the SCO region and the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

Turgunbaeva Raushan Kuttubaevna, the trainee representative and chief legal expert of the Supreme Court of Kyrgyzstan, thanked the organizers of the event and looked forward to the training camp with Chinese legal culture, commercial arbitration, administrative law, and other topics. She believes that this training camp will improve students' knowledge and experience in judicial and legal matters, and be conducive to trainees' career planning and personal development.

Kate, the trainee representative at SHUPL said that during her study at Shanghai University of Political Science and Law, she participated in rich activities and training organized by CNISCO, which improved her knowledge and ability and broadened her international horizon. She hoped further deepen her understanding of Chinese law by participating in the training camp to be a successor of the Shanghai Spirit, making contributions to China-Russia cultural exchanges.

The training includes research on major legal issues in jointly building the SCO, international commercial arbitration of China's basic legal system, and key legal issues on economic and trade cooperation.
