ABOUT US
Established in June 2021 on the campus of Shanghai Universisty of Political Science and Law (SHUPL), the Institute of Security Policy (ISP) is part of the China National Institute for SCO on International Exchanges and Judicial Cooperation(CNISCO), which is a presidential project.
Our objective is to establish a high-quality think tank specializing in security policy studies. We are tracking and monitoring current international security environment, analyzing and judging the trends of development, and providing ideas and policy suggestions.
ISP Research Activities are divided into four areas
1. Military Security Policy
2. Economic Security Policy
3. Diplomacy and Security Policy
4. Non-Traditional Security Policy : Cyber, Carbon Emission, etc.
Our Regular Research Activities include
1. To establish a high-level track II dialogue known as “Strategic Compass Dialogues”. The purpose is to organzie policy elite to meet on specific issues between China and US, China and EU, etc.. The dialogues could be held in Shanghai, Geneva, London, Florence or Washington.
2. To study and produce security policy reports.
3. To sponsor high-quality academic conferences, and international exchanges with top think tanks and scholars worldwide.
Our founding director is Dr. Lanxin Xiang,Professor Emeritus of International History and Politics at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva,Switzerland and Chair of Security Policy, Shanghai University of Political Science and Law.
