In the afternoon of Apr. 21, Liu Guixiang, Second Judge and full-time member of the Judicial Committee of the Supreme People's Court, gave lessons for the judges from SCO countries at CNISCO on the topic of The basic structures and characteristics of Civil Code of the People's Republic of China. President of SHUPL and Office Director of CNISCO Liu Xiaohong host the lecture. Total 27 judges from Kazakhstan, Russia, Tadzhikistan, Uzbekistan joined the online course, and nearly 1 hundred of guests, teachers and students participated.
Liu Guixiang introduced the overall structure and the compilation of the Civil Code. He pointed out that by establishing the principle of equality, the property system with Chinese characteristics and the contract system, the Civil Code has realized the integration of Socialism system with Chinese characteristics and market-oriented economy. By strengthening the protection of the personality right, people's good life was guaranteened lawfully. In general provision, the Civil Code set the principal of environmental protection, and integrated the philosophy of environmental protection and energy saving into the specific rules of each division and in practice. It has carried forward the core socialist values and implemented them into specific rules of the Civil Code.
Liu Guixiang also said that the Civil Code has gathered legal norms formed by long term practice since the founding of the People's Republic of China, and absorbed the excellent legal culture of the Chinese nation. It is a Civil Code with an international perspective that conforms to the interests and aspirations of the people and to the development requirements of the age. It has Chinese and practical characteristics for the time.
During the interactive session, the participants asked questions on government-subsidized housing, the legal effect of e-contracts, conpensation for mental distress and etc. They also thanked Liu's lesson and his answers to the questions. After the lesson, Liu Guixiang attended the Closing Ceremony of The Seminar for the Judges from SCO Countries.
